The Ideal Bamboo Size: 2–3m for Optimal Growth
✅ Bamboos in the 2–3m range grow to their full height and density faster than any juvenile 1-1.5m or the 3-4m left over pot bound stock. The sweet spot 2-3m range root system remains soft and healthy, ensuring rapid establishment and long-term vitality that enables it to break into the Sydney soil and grow rapidly.
❌ Avoid 3–4m bamboos in 300m pots. These are often unsold stock with rootbound, hardened roots that struggle to absorb water. Although they may appear lush at first from sitting in trays of water, leaves typically drop within weeks after planting, leaving bare canes and minimal screening. Recovery is slow, often taking years, with little chance of achieving full height or that vibrant green appearance. They more than often do not survive.
❌ Juvenile bamboos are also not recommended. These immature plants take up to 18 months to settle, with higher risks of failure due to their delicate nature.
